Two weeks after the original developer beta, Apple has released iOS 11.4 beta 2 for testing. iOS 11.4 includes unreleased features like AirPlay 2 and Messages on iCloud. Update 3/31: Apple’s latest data reflects 78% as measured on the App Store on March 30th. Update 4/14: Two weeks and one iOS 8.3 update later, the App Store now reports 79% iOS 8 adoption. Apple now says that 77% of active iPhones, iPads, and iPod touches are now running some version of iOS 8. The remainder of active devices running older software than what was released last September include one out of five devices still running iOS 7, and a small 3% running iOS 6 or earlier....
Uber has added Find My Friends-style tracking of family members using the car service on your account. The feature is an extension of the Family Profiles facility Uber started testing back in March, allowing you to add partners and children to your account so that their rides are all billed to a single card. Popular image sharing service Instagram today announced that it has grown to have more than 400 million active monthly users, up from 300 million in December of 2014 and double the number it had in March of 2014. Furthermore, Instagram says that more than 80 million photos are shared via the social network every day. The company also notes that of the last 100 million users to join, more than half live in Europe and Asia....

Instagram today has rolled out a new feature that allows users to add polls to stories along with a new text/brush color picker and alignment tool. In a blog post today, Instagram shared details about the new “interactive poll sticker” for stories. While the polls are binary for now, results show in real-time. If you create a poll, you’ll be able to see how many votes each option received, along with the choice each voter made....

The fine, ordered in 2019 by the European Commission, came off the back of allegations that Intel acted anticompetitively against AMD by giving rebates to computer manufacturers Dell, Hewlett Packard, and Lenovo to entice them into buying most of all or almost all of their chips from Intel. The EU antitrust regulator also said Intel’s decision to award payments to an European retailer on the condition it only sold computers containing Intel chips was also anticompetitive behaviour....
Intel today announced its fourth quarter earnings for 2018, missing analyst expectations. The company reported revenue of $18.66 billion, missing Wall Street expectations of $19.01 billion. In its release, Intel attributes its lower-than-expected revenue to slow modem sales. Despite missing expectations, Intel’s revenue was still up 9 percent year-over-year. Earnings-per-share also beat analyst expectations at $1.28 per share, versus $1.22 per share expected. In its “Executive Summary” of its Q4 2018 earnings, Intel says that its revenue being “below Oct’18 expectations” is due to “weaker modem demand, a slowdown in China, cloud customers absorbing capacity, and a weakening NAND environment....

iOS and macOS have a feature called iCloud Keychain, which is responsible for storing all passwords and credit cards of the user. However, when compared to competing apps like 1Password and LastPass, it lacks some important features. That could change soon with iOS 14. Recycling passwords is a major vulnerability. When one password database is exposed, hackers test the same passwords with other online accounts. What is also interesting is that, based on iOS 14 code, we can say that there will be a new method to save two-factor authentication passwords....
iOS 14.5 includes a major enhancement for using Face ID on your iPhone while wearing a mask. With the first developer beta of iOS 14.5 and watchOS 7.4, your iPhone will now automatically unlock when you’re wearing a face mask.
