In a statement to ZDNet, Cogent said it made the decision in order to comply with a new regulation from the European Union that was passed on Tuesday. “In response to the invasion of Ukraine, Cogent has terminated its contracts with customers billing out of Russia. Cogent is complying with EU Regulation 2022/350 passed on March 1, 2022, with respect to the blocking of certain media,” a company spokesperson said....

Hidden in the iOS 12 Settings app is an indication that Apple might be planning to support automatic software updates. Basis, a company backed by Intel, has announced a new smart watch compatible with iOS devices that places a focus on health and fitness applications. The device is capable of keeping track of several health-related data points, such as steps, calories, heart rate, prespiration, the temperature of your skin, and in-depth information about your sleep habits. The Peak doesn’t yet support basic smart watch features like email and text notifications, but Basis says those functions will come in a future software update....

Apple launched iOS 12 with much fanfare earlier this month but early adoption appeared sluggish. Remember IGTV, Instagram’s long-form video feature and app? Neither does anyone else it seems. Instagram wants to fix that by putting more IGTV content in front of you when you’re using Instagram proper. Variety reports that Instagram is making the change starting today: IGTV video will start to be mixed in with photos and videos posted to your main Instagram feed. Instagram hopes that these previews will catch your interest while you’re browsing your feed and boost IGTV views, but the obvious risk is just annoying users with spammy content and turning off users completely....
