In a post on its official blog this afternoon, Instagram announced that two-factor authentication is now live for all users. The update was part of a wide-ranging announcement from the company, which focused on “fostering a safer, kinder community.” Instagram had previously announced it was working on two-factor authentication and had rolled it out to select users. Today’s update, however, makes the added security layer available to everyone. In order to enable two-factor authentication, simply tap the settings icon in the upper-left corner, look under the “Account” list and tap the “Two-Factor Authentication” option....

US Instagram users can now buy products from more than 20 major brands from inside the app. The feature is known as Instagram Checkout. Instagram is aiming to make purchasing frictionless by storing all your details in the app. The company has named 23 brands available now, with more promised ‘soon.’ Once your first order is complete, your information will be securely saved for convenience the next time you shop. A security researcher has found that Instagram kept deleted photos and private messages for more than a year after he deleted them. The company paid him $6,000 for the discovery … TechCrunch reports. Pokharel submitted it as a bug, and the company paid him $6k under its bug bounty. It says the bug has now been fixed. Independent security researcher Saugat Pokharel found that when he downloaded his data from Instagram, a feature it launched in 2018 to comply with new European data rules, his downloaded data contained photos and private messages with other users that he had previously deleted....
While it previously announced plans to bring advertising to its mobile app sometime this year, Instagram officially announced today that it will be rolling out both photo and video ads from select brands in the coming months. A week after iOS 11 was released to the public, adoption was at about 25%. Now, just over three weeks since launch, iOS 11 adoption has slowed down but is just about to surpass iOS 10. Data from mixpanel as of 4PM ET shows iOS 11 adoption at 47.26%, close to surpassing iOS 10 that currently sits at 48.05%. When compared to iOS 10 adoption last year, iOS 11 is being installed at a much slower rate however....
