Instagram is rolling out a new feature today, which will allow users who manage multiple accounts to post the same content to all feeds more directly. Apple released iOS 10.3 earlier today and included in it were a host of new features. As usual, however, there are a number of under-the-hood changes as well. Arstechnica notes that iOS 10.3 fixes a bug that in Safari allowed for scammers to trick users into paying fees. The report explains that the flaw allowed ransomware scammers to display popup windows in a sort of endless cycle. The user would end up on an attacker website that posed as a law enforcement site informing them that they had to pay a fine for some sort of illegal action....

Apple has added a new banner alert to iOS 14 that lets users know if an app is pasting from the clipboard and therefore able to read the clipboard’s contents. This is part of iOS 14’s privacy controls, and follows an investigation from Mysk earlier this year that drew attention to the issue. More investigation into the newest beat of iOS 8.1 has revealed that the operating system contains 3x versions of some iPad UI elements. Instagram has not been shy about competing head-to-head with Snapchat, and a new update today continues that trend. In a blog post, Instagram announced a new feature that allows users to “remix” photos from friends… The company says that, when viewing images from friends, users can tap the camera icon in the lower left corner to access annotation features. Facebook-owned Instagram is introducing a new video capturing app for iPhone and iPad (and Android soon) called Hyperlapse. The photo (and video) sharing social network recently soft launched a new app called Bolt in Singapore, South Africa, and New Zealand that focused on quickly photo messaging friends, but Hyperlapse is more like an advanced feature that could have been found within Instagram. Hyperlapse offers up a unique way to capture and edit video using processor smarts to make panning shots smoother and add a time-lapse effect similar to the iOS 8 camera app....

Apple today released a new beta of iOS 13.5 to developers, bringing the first version of its COVID-19 exposure notification API to public health authorities. The update also includes a small tweak that makes it easier to skip Face ID and enter your passcode if you’re wearing a mask. With this change, Face ID can detect if you’re wearing a mask and skip directly to the passcode screen if so. It’s impressive that Apple has developed it such that if you’re not wearing a mask, Face ID still works as normal, with the experience only being changed when you are wearing one....
