iOS 12 includes a handful of improvements to Apple’s Animoji feature, including new features and new character options. A bizarre Instagram bug is causing some users to think their account has been deleted for no apparent reason, but that’s not actually the case. Over the past 24 hours, a growing number of Instagram users have reported that they have been logged out from their account and are unable to log back in… Naturally, many of the affected users quickly jumped to the conclusion that their accounts had been deleted....

Instagram has updated its mobile site with the ability to post photos without using the app, TechCrunch reports. Growing up and attending school in San Jose, Rob Janoff experienced Silicon Valley as it was in the midst of radical change. Plum orchards were being replaced with microprocessor factories. Apple is facing yet another antitrust battle, this time in Korea. Local startups are calling for an investigation into Apple and Google over the 30% commission charged on in-app purchases. Official stats show that the two companies jointly control 87.8% of the app market in South Korea … The Korea Herald reports. The startups say that the issue is made less fair by the fact that large companies may be in a position to negotiate lower commissions or exemptions, while small businesses cannot....

Back in August, Microsoft teased that it was working on Dark Mode support for its full Office suite for iOS and as it rolled out support for the feature with Outlook. The plan was to have Office Dark Mode support in time for the launch of iOS 13. Even though it’s coming about a month later, it’s great to now see system-wide Dark Mode support arrive for Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote for iPhone and iPad....

Apple announced iOS 15 during the WWDC21 keynote. As the sessions about all news related to developers are still happening this week, there’s a lot more to unveil about the new iPhone operating system. As it turns out, Apple has worked to improve integration with gameplay and controllers. Developer Steve Troughton-Smith shared in his Twitter account that ReplayKit now lets users video-capture a rolling buffer when playing a game. With this feature, it’s possible to immediately grab the last 15 seconds as a clip....

Apple took some time to talk gaming during a presentation closed to the public yesterday at WWDC. While noting that gaming is now an area that Apple is “pushing on very strongly”, the company also announced a new feature coming for gamers and developers: Controller Forwarding. Controller forwarding is a feature that expands on the Made-For-iPhone/iPad game controllers that Apple introduced alongside iOS 7 last year. Just two weeks after announcing it was going independent, popular read-it-later service Instapaper has updated its iOS application to remove support for Apple Watch. Instapaper was one of the first applications to ever support Apple Watch, launching its client on Apple Watch release day in 2015… On Apple Watch, Instapaper allowed users to access text-to-speech playback of saved articles.
