An iOS 12 exploit has reportedly reemerged, being used by a group of hackers in China known as the “Evil Eye.” The latest Insomnia exploit gives attackers root access to iPhones running iOS 12.3 to 12.3.2. Details have been shared about a reemergence of an iOS flaw that allows what are believed to be China-sponsored hackers to monitor iPhones of the country’s Uyghur Muslim minority (via ZDNet). Notably, users with an iPhone 6 or earlier would be stuck on iOS 12 and may not update software regularly, thus remaining vulnerable....

It’s not just you. Once again, iOS beta users are facing an annoying message about a non-existent update. This time, users with iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 beta installed on the iPhone and iPad are being prompted with erroneous messages informing them to update to the latest beta release, even though there are no updates available. The popup mentions that there’s a new iOS 14 beta available, but there’s not. This bug is not exactly new, as something extremely similar happened during the iOS 12 beta period in 2018....

Intel recently announced plans to bring its professional-class Intel Xeon processors to notebook computers for the first time. The Xeon family of chips is notably only used by Apple in $2,999 and up Mac Pro desktop computers. According to Intel, the high-performance processor will make its way to portable computers starting with processors based on the next-gen Skylake architecture. Specifically, the Xeon E3-1500M v5 family will be the first to bring contemporary workstation power to portable computers, while Intel promises “the right balance of power and mobility” for the upcoming chips....

Intel has debuted the next generation of its Core i5 and i7 processors, according to a report from CPU World. Each of these updated chips sports a 200 MHz speed boost over its previous incarnation, which can currently be found in the MacBook Pro lineup.
